Construction plans for a new Kenmore Branch of the King County Library System are dependent upon a new building being found for the U.S. Post Office now occupying the site. Budget concerns at the Post Office are making the prior expectation of a move somewhat uncertain, and the Post Office holds a lease on the present building until 2011. Buildings:

Due to a delay in the delivery date of construction materials, the Sequim Branch of the North Olympic Library System will now close Jan. 19 for its renovation project, re-opening in mid-March. (The Sequim Gazette, 12-24-08)

An article describes the library and tutoring activities at the Buena Branch of the Yakima Valley Libraries. Supporters of the library hope for success in a campaign that will move the library from its present trailer location into a larger new building. A letter writer is worried about the possibility of no parking being available at the new Vancouver Library (FVRL) since the planned underground garage is part of the privately funded portion of the site. Programs and Displays:

The Colfax Branch of the Whitman County Library will be hosting free exercise and yoga classes on Monday and Wednesday nights, introducing different styles of yoga. (Moscow-Pullman Daily News, 12-31-08)

The Walla Walla Public Library hosted the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation’s annual Starbucks Reading Room, with free books, drafts, and hot chocolate.”An hour into the event, all the hot chocolate had been consumed, so more was ordered, and more than a hundred books had been given away.” Publicity flyers distributed by the Toys for Tots campaign had reached some families who had been unfamiliar with the library.
