Cheyanne Lee wandered up to the Mukilteo Public Library checkout scanner with 13 bright, gleaming books bundled up in her arms. Cheyanne is part of a growing generation of young people who devour graphic novels, a type of comic book that usually has a longer and more complex plot. Their popularity is a big reason circulation of teen fiction in the Sno-Isle Regional Libraries system has nearly doubled over the past five years. Economy/Hard Times:

The Port of Manchester is considering a levy-lid lift to fund increased maintenance costs and future expansion of its public facilities. The port is attentive to talk about the need for a community center. Members of the Port of Manchester Advisory Committee and other residents would like to see an expanded community center with room for the Manchester library (Kitsap Regional Library), activities and meetings. As the economy sours, more people are checking out libraries as a way to save money and search for jobs online. It’s the worst of times for the Timberland Regional Library. The five-county district will scale back its services in 2010 after voters rejected a tax measure last month.
