(Special Programs Director Stephanie Horn and Deputy Secretary of State Mark Neary.)

Whoever said there is no such thing as a free lunch obviously missed the Public Service Recognition Week event on the East Plaza lawn of the Capitol Campus Wednesday. Hundreds of public employees gathered to eat free hot dogs, potato chips and bottled water served by our office’s Special Programs staff and Deputy Secretary of State Mark Neary. PSRW is held during May to celebrate the achievements of public employees. The Office of Secretary of State and Washington State Employees Credit Union are partners in this year’s weeklong event.

Two more PSRW events are slated Thursday in Eastern Washington: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Spokane DOT Building in Spokane, and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Howard Ammon Park in Richland. Many state workers will be at Safeco Field Saturday when the Seattle Mariners recognize them with State Employees Day. Secretary of State Wyman will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game against the Oakland A’s!
