For those of you looking forward to seeing the state Holiday Tree in the Legislative Building rotunda, your wait is over. The big tree is up.

Several Department of Enterprise Services workers spent Monday morning putting up the 25-foot Noble fir, donated by Rayonier Inc. The tree will be fully decorated late this week. The fir was cut from the company’s property near Humptulips in Grays Harbor County.

The public tree lighting ceremony in the rotunda takes place this Friday at 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Association of Washington Business.

This year's tree will be decorated with 5,000 LED lights and new decorations that include red and green balls, red-and-white candy canes, silver bells and more. AWB pays for the lights and decorations. The lower branches will hold stuffed animals and books, which will be donated to local organizations.
