  • Does your library have a stand-alone Virtual Reference service?
  • Have you wondered if Virtual Reference might be a good fit for your library?
  • Are you already a member of Ask WA (Washington’s 24/7 Virtual Reference Cooperative)?
If you said yes to any of these questions, this is the conference for you. WSL is planning a one-day, in person conference about Virtual Reference to be held in spring 2016. The conference is open to all Washington libraries. This will be the first ever virtual reference conference in Washington and we’d like your feedback to help us hold the best possible gathering. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey. Questions? Please contact Nono Burling at [email protected]. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) DIGITAL LITERACY SERVICES IN ACTION WEBINAR Past participants of the State Library sponsored Digital Literacy workshops, presented by Crystal Schimpf of Kixal, Inc., are invited to attend a final “Digital Literacy Services in Action” webinar, joining all other workshop participants, across all 8 locations. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd from 11: 00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We are excited to learn from each other what’s been implemented so far and brainstorm as a group solutions to any snags you’ve encountered thus far. Questions? Please contact Elizabeth Iaukea at [email protected]. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) NEW AGENCY FOR HOMELESS YOUTH PROGRAMS The Washington State Department of Commerce has established a new Office of Homeless Youth Prevention and Protection Programs. Kim Justice has been named the first director. The Office of Homeless Youth Prevention and Protection Programs was created by the 2015 Homeless Youth Prevention and Protection Act. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) MUSEUMS FOR ALL Museums for All is a cooperative initiative between the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to offer a signature access program that encourages families of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. The goals of the initiative include ensuring that every child and family have access to a high-quality children’s museum experience. Museums for All requires participating museums to offer greatly reduced general admission to individuals and families receiving food assistance, identified by showing an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) FREE CE OPPORTUNITIES NEXT WEEK Monday, November 16
