--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) DPLA METADATA TRAINING VIDEO A video recording of Introduction to the Digital Public Library of America’s Metadata Application Profile, is now available online (https://vimeo.com/188696798). Gretchen Gueguen, Data Services Manager from the DPLA, provided the October 19, 2016 training. Staff from public, academic, and special libraries throughout Washington and Oregon attended the live webinar, a joint effort of the Washington State Library, the Oregon State Library, and the Orbis Cascade Alliance, to facilitate a coordinated approach to digital collections in the Northwest. The Washington State Library recently awarded four LSTA-funded grants to libraries for metadata enhancement and remediation activities. Additional grants will be available to Washington libraries in spring and/or summer 2017. The Orbis Cascade Alliance is using funds from the Oregon State Library’s LSTA program to implement Dublin Core metadata standards and develop tools for metadata cleanup, training, and support which will be publicly available. Public library statistics including budget, collections, and usage data, are collected and compiled annually by Library Development staff. 4) USING THE BEA INTERACTIVE DATA TOOL Learn how to use the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) Regional Economic Accounts web pages to find Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and personal income data for states, Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), Micropolitan Statistical Areas, Combined Statistical Areas (CSAs), and counties. A free, live training webinar, “Using the BEA Interactive Data Tool to get Local Data,” will be presented on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. PST

Join Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) for a day of E-rate Program training designed for schools and libraries on Tribal lands. These trainings will cover the importance of broadband in Native communities and prepare attendees to be successful E-rate Program applicants. Tribal Applicant Training · Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Double Tree Suites by Hilton, 16500 Southcenter Parkway, Seattle, 98188.
Registration is complimentary, space is limited. Register early to secure your spot - these complimentary events have limited space. There is a General Applicant Training the following day in the same location. Attendees are welcome to attend both trainings but should register for them separately. The general training in Seattle on November 16 will have additional topics that go more in detail on program compliance. There is a wait list at the general training in Seattle.
