State Library's Teen Video Challenge has begun

Interested in creating video content? Love your local public library? You're in luck, because the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) Teen Video Challenge (TVC) is underway! Use your imagination and create a video promoting summer reading at the public library that includes the 2018 CSLP TVC teen slogan "Libraries Rock!," and you could win $100 for yourself and a $50 award for your public library partner! One winning video will be selected as the Washington winner, and all state winning videos will be official 2018 CSLP promotional videos and viewed nationwide!

The fine print

  • Any Washington teen or group of teens ages 13-18 may enter. Teens must be the ones that develop, script, film, and so forth, though anyone can be in the video itself.
  • Anyone appearing in the video is required to fill out a Model Release Form.
  • Your local public library must be a partner, and has to be named on the entry form.
  • Videos can include specific library signs, but must be general enough to be usable nationwide.
  • All audio and artwork must be created by the teens or be in the public domain and must be specified on the entry form.
  • Videos must be between 30 and 90 seconds long.

How to participate

  1. Download and complete the Washington Entry Form. Please read the entire entry form before completing.
  2. Download and complete the Model Release Form for every person appearing in your video.
  3. Create a 30-90 second video that encourages teens to read and use libraries this summer. Include your interpretation of the 2018 CSLP teen slogan Libraries Rock!.
  4. Title your video: “2018 TVC - WA - [name of video itself].” Please choose a unique name that does not include your real name.
  5. Upload your video to YouTube.com or Vimeo.com. Please include closed-captioning if your video includes words in the audio.
  6. By February 10, 2018, mail, email, or fax your completed forms using the subject "2018 TVC" to:
