HistoryMakers Database

As the Legacy Project grows, the Historymakers biographical database will provide access to vital information pertaining to prominent political leaders and community activists. In order to provide the public with this necessary resource, we will need the help of volunteers to make this possible. If you have research experience and are interested in learning more about this opportunity please email Lori Larson.

WTBBL Shipping Department

WTBBL’s shipping department sends out 2,000 talking books daily to patrons statewide. The shipping department needs volunteers to work with circulation including shelving, picking up books from the shelves, and checking in books. When books are returned to the library, volunteers also inspect them for completeness and any problems. This is a great volunteer opportunity for groups. WTBBL Audio Book Production Department

Narrators do the important work of reading books in a digital recording environment at WTBBL’s Seattle studios to create talking books that are accessible to WTBBL patrons. We provide a collegial atmosphere in which to work, and the knowledge that the volunteer has made a lasting contribution to the reading community. A minimum one year commitment is required, and training is provided after an audition has been passed. WTBBL also needs Book Reviewers to ensure the quality of recordings, and technical help with final book production by preparing digital audio files for different formats.
