Wait…You’re not Santa!

While he wasn’t donning a white beard and red suit at the time, then-Gov. Dan Evans had the Santa-like experience of talking with lots of children just before Christmas. We’ll never know what that little boy said to the governor. Maybe he asked him to include a new bike in the state budget! The photo was taken during the Governor’s Christmas Party for Kids in the Rotunda on Dec. 23, 1971. The shot is part of the State Archives’ State Governors’ Negative Collection.
