The conference is September 11-13 (preconference on Sept. 10) in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Scholarships are supported with funding from the Library Services Technology Act (LSTA). Applicants must work at a small and rural library in Washington State, and preference is given to those who have not attended an ARSL conference in the last 5 years. To apply, or for more information, please contact Kirsten Furl at [email protected] 360-570-5576 or toll free 866-538-4996. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) WORKSHOP – MANAGING OTHERS IN TIGHT TIMES How to Manage Others during Tight Times and Changing Trends is a workshop offered by the SAM (Supervisors, Administrators and Managers) interest group of WLA, featuring Cyndi Schaeffer from Edmonds Community College. This one day session prepares supervisors and managers to lead work activities and staff during organizational changes and during tight times. Most managers are not prepared how to deal with human factor issues and don’t know how to effectively manage others during change. This training is very interactive and engaging. These workshops are from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with dates and locations as follows:
