Reference library opens at Lightcatcher
A new reference collection of more than 500 titles focusing on art and regional history is now accessible to the community, thanks to a partnership between Whatcom Museum, Bellingham Public Library, and donors of library materials. The Joyce Morse Reference Library is open by appointment noon to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Museum’s Lightcatcher building at 250 Flora Street. Call 360-778-8938 for an appointment. ‘Courageous,’ ‘professor’ lead to spelling bee titles
A “courageous” endeavor and a savvy little “professor” won top honors in the Port Angeles All-City Spelling Bee. James Burkhardt placed first in the elementary level; Mason Reynolds placed second. Emily Bundy placed first in the middle school level; Felicia Che placed second. The annual bee was sponsored by Soroptimist International Port Angeles-Jet Set and the Friends of the North Olympic Library System. (Peninsula Daily News, Port Angeles, 6/8/15)

Local authors featured in Timberland ‘Anthology’
The Timberland Regional Library, which serves five counties in Southwest Washington, is publishing “Timberland Writes Together Anthology,” a collection of short stories and artwork comprising local writers and artists. The library received 185 story submissions and 92 artwork submissions from 198 contributors living in its service area. The anthology will be available soon at all 27 Timberland branches as well as on Amazon.com. (The East County Journal, Morton, 6/3/15)
Summer reading program kicks off June 15
All summer long students and children are encouraged to enjoy arts and crafts, Legos, and movies at the Ritzville Public Library. Participants also have an opportunity to win exciting prizes if they reach their reading goal by August 31. The reading program began June 15 with the theme this year as, “Every Hero Has A Story.” (Ritzville-Adams County Journal, Ritzville, 6/4/15)
