Have a kid who needs more summertime stimulation than just Xbox? Looking for a book to read while on vacation? Want to learn more about some aspect of our state’s history? Check out the State Library’s new recommended reading list for its “Washington Reads” program.

The theme for the new list is “Washington Works.” Most of the books deal with jobs and certain industries, both past and present. With the state experiencing a high unemployment rate and many Washingtonians worrying about the future of their jobs, the books on this list allow readers to reflect on work in our state.
