This year’s theme Communities thrive @ your library® reminds your patrons that the library is the place where people of all backgrounds grow together. It was produced by the First Five Years Fund, a project of Ounce of Prevention in Chicago. View the clip here at www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbSp88PBe9E. Permission to share the video in public speaking engagements was granted to the Foundation for Early Learning by Claunda Roseborough-Smith, vice president of communications for Ounce of Prevention. She can be reached at [email protected]. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) SHARE YOUR DÍA CELEBRATION The Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, is encouraging libraries to share their plans for celebrating “Día” – “El día de los niños/El día de los libros” (“Children’s Day/Book Day”). This special day, held each year on April 30, honors children, books, and cultures. Libraries that register their events early with ALA may receive up to 100 complimentary bilingual brochures (while supplies last) featuring recommended children’s book titles and tips for parents on reading to and with children.
