Happiness is being a Cougar ...

Secretary of State Sam Reed promotes his alma mater, Washington State University, wherever he goes, much to the chagrin of alumni of other fine universities. He was recently back "home" on the Pullman campus where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees and was active in student government and his fraternity. Here he's doing a grip-n-grin gang photo with the terrific group of elected student leaders he met with. (Thanks to Senator Christina Turner for the cellphone shot!) Earlier in the day, he videotaped memories of the legendary broadcaster Edward R. Murrow, who once visited with Reed and other guys at his old fraternity house "back in the day," taught a poli sci class, and headlined events sponsored by the amazing Foley Institute. He launched the new book on that oh-so-close 2004 governor's race, "An Election for the Ages," just published by WSU Press. Later, dinner at the collegiate golf course with Rep. Susan Fagan.
