Secretary of State Wyman and some of her top officials came over from Olympia to Cheney to visit the Eastern Region Branch Archives and the Digital Archives Tuesday and congratulate the team there on going above and beyond the call of duty in keeping the Digital Archives and Eastern Archives websites up and operating during recent challenging conditions. So what happened? A chiller compressor for the data center failed, causing the power main for the building to trip off, which caused the main computer circuit controller board to the Carrier chiller to “fry." The replacement board had to be back-ordered. Meanwhile, the data center staff had to open up doors and cool the equipment with auxiliary cooling fans, and even spend the night for a total of five days until the chiller part arrived and could be repaired. Wyman, shown here with some of the Archives staff, made a special trip to Cheney to extend her personal thanks for a job well done for the citizens of Washington.
