Marijuana license application period now open

A year after state voters approved the legalization of marijuana via Initiative 502, a month-long window is now open for Washington businesses and individuals to apply for recreational marijuana business licenses. The application period began Monday morning, and will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19. By 2 p.m. on the first day of the period, 299 people applied online, and about a dozen people applied in person at the Department of Revenue’s Tumwater office. There are three ways to apply: • Online through the Business Licensing Service managed by the state Department of Revenue • Mail completed paperwork and fees to Revenue: State of Washington, Business Licensing Service PO Box 9034 Olympia, WA 98507-9034 • In person at any of Revenue’s 12 field offices located in Bellingham, Bothell, Kent, Port Angeles, Richland, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Tumwater, Vancouver, Wenatchee and Yakima.
