ReadersFirst is an organization founded by librarians to advocate for the public to ensure users have the same open, easy and free access to e-books they have come to rely on with print books. Recently the ReadersFirst Initiative has been joined by the Ohio Library Council’s Federal Ebook Project. At next week’s First Tuesdays presentation, The ReadersFirst Initiative: Fighting for Fair Access to ebooks, Spokane Public Library’s Support Services Manager, Robert Roose, will share what progress has been made by ReadersFirst. Designed as a continuing education opportunity for staff of libraries in Washington State, this free web presentation, which will take place on September 9 2014, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. PDT, lets attendees share their skills and successes and learn about new topics. Sessions are recorded so that others may listen at their own convenience. For more information about First Tuesdays, visit sos.wa.gov/q/tuesdays. For instructions on joining the webinar, visit sos.wa.gov/q/FirstTuesdays. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) NEW VIDEO INTRODUCES WASHINGTON STATE LIBRARY Rand Simmons, Washington State Librarian, announces the release of a new video slide show introduction to the Washington State Library (WSL) and its services.
