Sno-Isle Libraries facilities plan
Sno-Isle Libraries is seeking consultant services to create a facilities planning document: Sno-Isle Facilities Plan, 2016-2025. Proposals are due by July 7, 2015. The consultant selected for this project will produce a plan that provides specific, realistic recommendations for Sno-Isle Libraries’ capital facilities work over the next 10 years. As part of this project, the consultant will design and conduct community engagement activities, the results of which will inform their recommendations. The consultant will also be expected to use data from a variety of sources and their own professional expertise and judgment in making their recommendations. Board votes to move forward with Silverdale library campaign
The Kitsap Regional Library Board of Trustees voted to move forward with a capital campaign for a new library in Silverdale. The board also voted to proceed with a down payment on the chosen parcel of land, located on the corner of Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue. (Bremerton Patriot, Bremerton, 5/29/15)
Tukwila Village getting a new library
King County Library System is seeking bids for construction of a library in Tukwila Village, a new development at 14380 Tukwila International Blvd. Perkins + Will is designing the 10,000-square-foot library branch. Tukwila Village is a mixed-use project being built by Tukwila Village Development Associates LLC, a partnership between Senior Housing Assistance Group and Pacific Northern Construction. The project broke ground last summer and will be done in phases, with apartments, senior housing, retail, and city services. (Daily Journal of Commerce, Seattle, 6/10/15)

Michael Cox is library system’s deputy director
The Whatcom County Library System welcomes Michael Cox, relocating from Pueblo, Colorado, as new deputy director. Cox will visit each branch and do a ride-along on the bookmobile. He will meet with staff, trustees, Friends and Foundation members, and the public. (Ferndale Record, Ferndale, 5/27/15)

Summer reading program is back
Mid-Columbia Libraries’ summer reading program is back, and you’ll have to tap into your creative powers to win one of this year’s prizes, which include a Nikon digital camera setup, Macbook Air laptop computer, and Xbox One package. Reading is still a big part of the annual challenge, but library officials have changed the program by also requiring participation in library activities and personal growth. PA Library exhibit to fete Elwha restoration project
The “Elwha: A River Reborn” series will revisit one of the biggest events in Olympic Peninsula history. The program, with its seven events and a concurrent exhibition at the Port Angeles Library, is a look at the Elwha River restoration. The series comes to the Port Angeles Library from Seattle’s Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. (Peninsula Daily News, Port Angeles, 6/1/15)
Roslyn Library giving help to grant seekers
The Roslyn Public Library is now offering individuals and organizations help to find grants to get their projects off the ground. Grant Station, a web-based database, was added to the Roslyn Public Library’s collection this month. Grant Station’s search tool includes three areas: U.S. charitable giving database, federal grants and loans, and state grants and loans. The Station also offers databases for international grants and Canadian grants. (Daily Record, Ellensburg, 6/3/15)

Sno-Isle Libraries to host TEDx at ECA Nov. 6
Sno-Isle Libraries will bring some of the region’s most fascinating thinkers, innovators, artists, and speakers to the stage when it presents TEDxSno-IsleLibraries on November 6 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The day-long program, “Creating New Futures,” will feature the famous TED Talks format. Though TEDx events are locally organized, some of the best TEDx presentations have been featured on TED.com and garnered millions of views from audiences around the globe.
