Letters About Literature contest kicks off
The annual Letters About Literature writing contest is under way and Washington is again taking part. The contest encourages students in grades four through 12 to write letters to their favorite authors, living or dead, and explain how a particular book by the author changed their view of the world or themselves. The state’s winners will be announced in April 2016. The contest is co-sponsored by the Washington State Library (a division of the Office of the Secretary of State), the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, and the Library of Congress Center for the Book. Bellevue students to get more access to county library
Bellevue School District (BSD) students will soon have increased access to King County Library System (KCLS) resources with a new partnership through which students will receive special library accounts and access to library materials that they are currently lacking. The KCLS will automatically launch the system to each student in kindergarten through 12th grade. This new arrangement between BSD and KCLS will supplement the traditional library card. Students will be able to use an array of databases, downloadable materials, and online homework help services offered by KCLS without needing a physical card. (Bellevue Reporter, Kent, 10/2/15)
