Land bought for new library (The Kitsap Sun, Bremerton, 11/29/15)
SCLD takes community-first approach to planning
The Spokane County Library District (SCLD) is nearing the completion of its three-year Community Engagement Plan. “The Community Engagement Plan is essentially our strategic plan for 2016-2018,” SCLD Deputy Director Patrick Roewe said. Based on the plan, areas of strategic focus will include early learning, business and career readiness, education and enrichment, and digital information and sharing. More information on the plan will be available later this year on the District’s website, www.scld.org, or at any of the library locations. (The Current, Liberty Lake, 12/--/15)

Library late fees won’t be capped
Starting January 1, 2016, Pend Oreille County libraries will not cap the overdue fees on materials. Currently the fees are capped at $3.00, no matter how long overdue. The library charges 10 cents per day for books, audio books, and CDs and $2.00 per day for DVDs or videos. (Newport Miner, Newport, 12/2/15)

King County Library System Request for Proposal for Long Distance Services
The King County Library System invites qualified vendors to participate in the Request for Proposal for Long Distance Services. A detailed bid package may be obtained online at www.kcls.org/rfp. If requesting a PDF copy of the RFP, please specify “Long Distance Services”. KCLS must receive proposals from vendors by 4:00 p.m. PST on January 19, 2016. Timberland selects Prophit as new librarian
Mary Prophit has been working at the Timberland Library in Randle for almost 22 years. Last month, Prophit was hired to fill the manager’s position at the local library following the death of her longtime co-worker and friend, Nancy Sawyer, who passed away on August 13. The move now leaves a vacancy for the library assistant position, which is in the process of being filled. (The East County Journal, Morton, 12/2/15)

3D printing now available at Spokane Valley Library
The Spokane County Library District recently installed an Ultimaker2 3D printer at the Spokane Valley Library. Over the next year, the District will be offering more classes and opportunities for members to try their hand at designing and printing in 3D. (The Current, Liberty Lake, 12/--/15)
