The current Annual Report is for the use of the 2015 LSTA award. The report is now available at sos.wa.gov/q/libdev along with other Washington State LSTA information. The PDF report link is embedded in the heading, “Annual report on the use of LSTA funding” or via this link: sos.wa.gov/q/LSTA2015. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) WRITING EFFECTIVE EMAIL The Washington State Library is offering a free, 3-hour, hands-on course designed to teach the following skills:
- Using email formats to create clarity;
- Understanding and utilizing the general and courteous “rules of engagement” when composing or replying to email;
- Performing an audience analysis prior to writing;
- Composing email that clearly communicates desired actions (e.g., approval, commitment, providing information, etc.);
- Recognizing and stopping inappropriate, emotional, or harmful email threads;
- Essential proofreading for tone, punctuation, and grammar.

- Tuesday, February 14, 2017: Pierce County Service Center, 3005 112th St E, Tacoma;
- Thursday, February 16, 2017: Fort Vancouver Regional Library. 1007 Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver;

- Lab Grant applications must be received by COB Tuesday, January 24, 2017, with contract execution expected before March 20, 2017.
- Grant materials (Guidelines and Application) are available on the State Library’s Grant page.
- The Lab Grant opportunity replaces the Microsoft Imagine Academy 2016-2017 grant, which will close Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
- For full details about the CSLP 2017 Teen Video Challenge and to find out how to enter Washington’s competition, please visit sos.wa.gov/q/teenvideo.
- $100 will be awarded to the creator of Washington’s winning video and their associated public library will receive prizes worth at least $50 from Upstart. Winners will be announced by CSLP in April 2017.
- The deadline for a submission of a video for this contest is February 15, 2017.
