Among the many new laws that went into effect Sunday, July 26, was SSB 5270. This law sets new deadlines for voter registration.

So now, if you are a registering to vote for the first time in Washington, you have eight days before an election to register to vote in person at your county auditor's office. If you register to vote online or by mail, you'll have to do so at least 29 days before an election (same applies if you have changed your name or address). The August primary won't be affected by this new change.
