Governor Gregoire signed into law Senate Bill 6540, which moves the popular workplace giving program from the Department of Personnel to the Secretary of State’s Office. Secretary of State Sam Reed helped create the CFD when he was Thurston County Auditor and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and other charities. The program allows current and former public employees to make donations via check or payroll deduction to their favorite charities. Created in 1984, the CFD raises nearly $6 million per year from about 20,000 public and higher education employees and retirees for local, national and international charities. Three CFD staff members will be moving with the program: Program Manager, Randy Ryan; Cindy Wulff; and Kim Bzotte. Staff will be located on the third floor of the Library Building and their first day in the office will be June 28th.
