Lotta looks at election results

With so much attention placed on this week’s General Election, it isn’t surprising that many people flocked to our website or new iPhone app to find the latest results for various races and ballot measures.

But we were blown away that far more people this year were going to our website for election results than even the big 2008 election that drew a state-record 85 percent turnout.

These numbers tell it all (the date range is Election Day plus the day after):

Our www.Vote.Wa.Gov site received 372,027 visits, 261,766 visitors and just over 3 million page views this year compared to 286,610 visits, 157,802 visitors and 1.765 million page views in 2008.

The Elections Division homepage on our office’s main website received 338,175 visits, 305,925 visitors and 468,857 page views, more than doubling the ’08 stats of 128,581; 112,702; and 214,993, respectively.

The Elections Division homepage on our mobile site attracted 1,106 visits, 1,070 visitors and 1,661 page views. In 2009, there were 567 visits, 546 visitors and 830 page views.

Finally, our new iPhone Election Results app had 7,444 users as of Wednesday, with 107,086 views. The average number of views per user is 14.39.

We’re obviously very pleased that so many people have used our websites and app to keep track of the elections.
