If you help run a charity or nonprofit, or if you’re serving on a charity or nonprofit board (or at least thinking about it), there is an upcoming event in Everett especially for you.

Our office’s Corporations and Charities Division is holding its next Charities and Nonprofit Education Symposium on July 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Comcast Arena’s Edward D. Hansen Conference Center (2900 Hewitt Ave.). The symposium will provide lots of helpful info to help organizations be successful and stay in compliance with rules and regulations

The event will cover these topics:
• Nonprofit board governance, including liabilities and indemnification, employment issues, duties and bylaws and liability insurance;
• Washington state tax requirements;
• Registration and renewal requirements for Washington charities and nonprofits;
• State regulations for bingo events, raffles and adult beverages; and
• A panel Q & A session on governance and taxes.

Registration is limited and available online. For more info, contact Teresa Glidden, our charity and nonprofit education coordinator, at (360) 725-0373 or [email protected].

Presenters include representatives from the Office of Secretary of State, state Department of Revenue, Washington Liquor Control Board, Washington State Gambling Commission and Washington Attorneys Assisting Community Organizations (WAACO).

We’ll hold similar events in Vancouver Sept. 16 and in Kennewick Sept. 20.
