North Head Lighthouse 1950

One of the most stunning ocean vistas along the Washington coast is found at the North Head Lighthouse near Cape Disappointment and Ilwaco, at the southwestern corner of the state.

Check out this cool circa-1950 photo of the lighthouse taken just after the sun sets over the Pacific. The photo is just one of hundreds of interesting shots taken throughout Washington that are found in the Digital Archives’ General Subjects Photograph Collection, 1845-2005.
