For anyone who celebrated Christmas this week with children, one highlight is watching kids' eyes light up as they open a cool gift. This State Archives photo from 1970 captures excitement in the Governor's Mansion when Mark (left) and Bruce Evans, sons of Gov. Dan Evans and first lady Nancy Evans, opened up a box of pineapples sent to the Washington governor's family by Hawaii Gov. John Burns. The photo is found in the Digital Archives' State Governors' Negative Collection, 1949-1975. According to our former three-term governor, the Evans family sent Washington apples to Gov. Burns that year.
