Children's Internet Protection Act
The Children's Internet Protection Act became effective April 20, 2001. Public libraries currently receiving E-Rate discounts or participating in LSTA funded programs should be aware of this legislation and how it affects the funding of your library.

FCC CIPA Order Issued
On July 24, 2003, the FCC issued an Order adopting measures that implement the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) in compliance with the June 23, 2003 ruling of the United States Supreme Court. The agency's order directs that "...libraries receiving e-rate discounts for Internet access or internal connections shall have one year from July 1, 2003, which is the start of Funding Year 2003, to come into compliance with the filtering requirements of CIPA."
