Billy Frank Jr. biography now in paperback

The Legacy Project’s acclaimed biography of Nisqually tribal leader Billy Frank Jr. is now available in paperback. The paperback version of “Where The Salmon Run: The Life and Legacy of Billy Frank Jr.” is being sold by the University of Washington Press. The paperback version costs $27.50. The new paperback book will eventually be available for purchase at the Secretary of State’s front desk in the Legislative Building or through the office’s Online Store. Frank is one the most famous Native Americans in Washington history, and a key figure in the long and sometimes contentious battle over Indian fishing rights. Written by Legacy Project Director Trova Heffernan, the Frank biography has received positive reviews since its original release, including this piece last year by The Olympian’s John Dodge, who wrote:

"Heffernan talked to all the right people to write this book, from fellow Indian rights warrior Hank Adams to Franks's son, Willie Frank III . . . Heffernan caught up with Frank six times for face-to-face interviews filled with candor, insight and patchwork quotes only Frank could knit together."

The hardbound version of “Where The Salmon Run” was released in June 2012. The hardback book is now in its second printing run, with more than 1,000 copies sold.
