Federal Civics 101 (Olympia)

Federal Civics 101 (Olympia)

Event Date

-

Ever wondered how we in WA can become more civically active and engaged in DC? Your voice matters and you have a right to be heard! Join us at the Olympia Timberland Library to learn about how to engage, debate, discuss, and fight for what you believe in at the national level.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore three big topics:

  • Values embedded in U.S. founding documents (Declaration of Independence, The Preamble to the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights);
  • The “separation of powers” between the three branches of government; and
  • Constitutional provisions around citizenship and voting rights.

Every participant will receive a “pocket Constitution” and have multiple opportunities to discuss their relationship with the federal government.

Be sure to check out the next workshops, focusing on State and Local government -- and then our civics trivia night!
