State Civics 101 (Olympia)
State Civics 101 (Olympia)
Event Date
The Civic Engagement Program of the WA Office of the Secretary of State will be holding a "State Civics 101" workshop at the Olympia Timberland Library on Wednesday, June 11th, 6:30-8pm. If in the area, please feel free to join us as we discuss how state government works and how you can best ensure that your voice is heard in Olympia!
Using materials from Teach with TVW and the Washington State Legislature, this interactive workshop will explore:
- Organization of Washington State government;
- The lawmaking process in Washington state (e.g. How a Bill Becomes a Law); and
- Strategies for participating and tracking the legislative process at the state level.
Every participant will receive a copy of the Washington State Legislature’s Guide to Lawmaking, a “Guide to Effective Participation,” and a “Legislative Tracker.”
Be sure to check out the next workshop, focusing on Local government -- and then our civics trivia night!
