Local Civics 101 (Olympia)
Local Civics 101 (Olympia)
Event Date
-
It can be argued that the purest form of democracy begins at the grassroots level. Learn how you can work within your community to have the necessary conversations, build and advocate for the solutions and changes that hit closest to home. If in the area, please feel free to join us at the Olympia Timberland Regional Library as we discuss how you can make the biggest impact on the lives and futures of your own community.
In this interactive workshop, we will explore the forms and functions of the City of Olympia and Thurston County governments. We will learn about
- City Council, Board of County Commissioners, and the public commissions and committees that advise these decision-making bodies; and
- Opportunities to get civically-engaged at the local level.
Don't miss our civics trivia night on 6/24!
