Washington State: We're famous for our fresh air … and computers … and lattes … … and genealogy??

Get used to that connotation, because Washington has been getting rave reviews lately for making it a snap to find out who's who in your family tree. Washington State was named the second best state in the country for genealogy in Family Tree Magazine (May 2009). Massachusetts came in at No. 1, thanks to its Mayflower passenger list and the New England Historic Genealogical Society. The article says, “Washington ranks No. 2 on our best list – but with a footnote: Next time, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it rise to No. 1.” This news comes on the heels of Ancestry magazine’s ranking of the Washington State Digital Archives as the “top state” among the hot-wired states for online family history research.
